CALL for PAPERS
Symposium on
Dynamics and Stability of Systems with Varying Characteristics
The 18th ASME Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise
September 9-12, 2001 - Pittsburgh, PA, USA
The Technical Program Committee is sponsoring a Symposium on Dynamics and Stability of Systems with Varying Characteristics, to be held during the 18th ASME Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Papers are solicited in all areas related to theoretical, computational and experimental aspects of dynamics, vibration, identification and control of mechanical systems and structures with
hysteretic, piecewise linear and nonlinear characteristics
.
For instance, dynamics and vibration of structures and machines involving clearances, impacts and friction under transient or periodic loading; dynamic response of hysteretic systems, like traditional materials subjected to large strains, or innovative materials (shape memory alloys, ferromagnetic materials, …), like devices for vibration suppression; rotordynamics of systems with bearing clearances and gear backlash; active and passive structural damping; applications of smart sensors and actuators; stability and bifurcation analysis; various techniques in nonlinear controls and identification, sensor location and optimization of systems involving hysteresis and discontinuities are some of the topics relevant to the symposium. Papers dealing with experimental investigations, interpretation and comparison with analytical predictions are especially welcome.
Interested authors are requested to send by email one-page abstract to the organizers at their earlier convenience for planning purposes. Three copies of papers should be submitted to one of the organizers listed below. Please, note that all paper will be reviewed and if accepted will be included in the conference proceedings. The important deadlines are as follows:
